Cuando Blanca Padilla se presentó al casting para ser una de las modelos de Victoria's Secret en 2014 jamás se imaginó que iba a ser una de las seleccionadas. "Supongo que lo harían por marketing", reveló al año siguiente en Al rincón de pensar, el programa de Risto Mejide. De eso han pasado dos años y la modelo acaba de anunciar que volverá a subirse a la pasarela de la firma de lencería.
Desde ese año, todos se ha presentado su casting, sin suerte. No fue seleccionada, en cambio, otras modelos, a las que ella misma criticaba por no estar siempre perfectas, sí lo hacían. Es el caso de Gigi Hadid, la modelo con más curvas que ha trabajado para la marca, que en los últimos meses ha cambiado notablemente su físico y está mucho más delgada. "Si yo no estoy perfecta no trabajo, Gigi Hadid, sí", confesó en el conocido programa.
El martes Blanca se vistió y se echó a la calle para conquistar por segunda vez su sueño. Los periodistas esperaban la llegada de las modelos al casting y ella, muy segura de sí misma, posaba para los medios gráficos enfundada en un pantalón vaquero deshilachado, top con cuello cisne y zapatos beige laze up, un look simple pero con el que estaba arrebatadora. El brillo en sus ojos auguraba que algo bueno estaba por llegar.

But I just wanted this process to be part of who I really am, so I set that goal. I worked not only my body but my mind to live the previous days and the casting day itself with a different perspective. Had up and downs on nerve wrecking (of course), but I allowed myself to feel the real excitement it brings and a lot less insecurities. It wasn't that easy cause I'm emotional and when you walk in there your whole perfect plan kind of falls apart! I remember my legs shaking while walking in my first VS casting. But I wanted to leave that room knowing that I gave all I could and I would be able to find peace within any answer. And I left it with tears in my eyes but of joy! What a great experience. I wanted this YES, but I worked for it and I am proud of myself, for getting it AND for how I went through it. Why are we so scared to be proud of ourselves? CELEBRATE YOURSELF. Celebrate your progress. All I want to say with this is try to turn your failures around because they're only teaching us, work on your self love and DO NOT GIVE UP. Nowadays we managed to made it a hard job to LOVE ourselves but don't stop working on it. Authenticity is something that will never stop shining. And whoever this reaches, here's a message for you that I truly believe: you're incredibly valuable, you have so much to give to yourself and others. Every single one of us. Do not give up. Realize your power. Aunque durante unos años Victoria's Secret no la quiso entre sus filas (sí para participar como modelo en alguno de sus catálogos), la modelo siguió trabajando duro y protagonizó campañas de Calzedonia, Oysho, Stradivarius, conquistó a Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Dior, Armani... Era cuestión de tiempo que la historia se volviera a repetir.
El miércoles la española Blanca Padilla, a la que descubrieron en el metro, compartió la imagen más esperada por todos sus fans. Agradecida, emocionada y muy feliz, anunciaba que por segunda vez iba a ser una de las modelos del desfile de Victoria's Secret que este año se celebrará en China. "Hay que entender lo que es un fracaso clave", comenta la modelo que intentó sin éxito repetir su hazaña desde 2014. A ella le costó aprender de fracaso, pero luego lo ha saboreado con más gusto. "Y cuando lo consigues, todo es más bonito. ¡Pero he recorrido un gran camino para aprenderlo".
Ella misma reconoce que estos últimos días ha preparado a conciencia su cuerpo, pero también su mente, por eso acudió al casting con una gran entereza, no como la primera vez. "Recuerdo cómo me temblaban las piernas".
La joven termina el post agradeciendo el apoyo a todo el mundo que le ha parado por la calle para darle ánimos y sobre todo a España, para quien tiene la última palabra: "Gracias España", dice.
Blanca sabe que ha hecho historia. Hasta el momento, nunca una española se ha subido dos veces a la pasarela de Victoria's Secret y pocas con quienes han tenido el privilegio de hacerlo antes que Padilla, como Helena Barquilla (1995), Esther Cañadas (1997) , Eugenia Silva (1999) y Clara Alonso (2008).
