HOUSTON and OSLO, Norway, August 1 /PRNewswire/ --
With completion of a successful pilot of the Market Survey System(TM) (MSS), ODS Petrodata has received approval from Total E&P Services, ExxonMobil, Royal Dutch Shell and ConocoPhillips to proceed into the operational phase. The MSS is designed to collect public domain information on suppliers/contractors and their markets.
The MSS adds value to contractors and suppliers by developing industry standard 'Request for Information' (RFI) documentation, which is maintained online in a secure website by each supplier. Each participating oil & gas company will independently use the data in support of its contracting and procurement processes.
Subscriptions to the service are available to additional oil and gas companies worldwide. The MSS provides comprehensive coverage of suppliers/contractors and market segments related to development projects for upstream oil and gas onshore and offshore including LNG and key equipment such as large rotating equipment and line pipe. In the future, MSS coverage may expand to additional areas such as well engineering, drilling and downstream contractors and services.
Commenting on the system, James Ferrell of ConocoPhillips said, "MSS gives ConocoPhillips a repository of current, relevant contractor information which we would not be able to create and/or maintain internally. Having this information available to our global project and procurement community allows us to focus our internal effort on taking differential action rather than gathering data."
