OSAKA, Japan, October 9 /PRNewswire/ --
New and Renewable Energy Centre Ltd. (NaREC) (1) and Yanmar Co., Ltd. (2) start the demonstration of 9.9kW Micro-Combined Heat and Power (CHP) by using 100 per cent grade bio-diesel fuel for the first time in the UK. (3)
NaREC and Yanmar have reached to the Joint Research Agreement concerning the application of bio-diesel fuel techniques this September and became the first joint research partners in the UK. This test will be conducted in accordance with this agreement and taken place at Clothier Laboratory (4) in the Northeast of England from this October to 2010.
Bio-diesel fuel is made from biomass such as vegetable oils and, therefore, carbon dioxide created from the burning of it is uncountable as the greenhouse gas emission. It is highlighted as 'clean energy' or 'carbon neutral'.
British government set the target of cutting carbon dioxide emissions of 60 per cent from 1990 levels by 2050 and promotes to introduce CHP into the market. The purpose of this experimental test is to evaluate the economy and ecology of CHP run on bio-diesel fuel.
Yanmar has developed CHP with high energy efficiency and durability. Yanmar is conducting the test of CHP with 100 per cent bio-diesel made from the waste vegetable oil in Japan and plan the test in India, Malaysia and the UK. Specially, the UK is the first test place for Yanmar in Europe. Yanmar promotes to develop the product complied with various types of bio-fuels in the world through these tests and contribute to solve the energy security and environmental problem.
