Atmel Releases Next-Generation Linescan Cameras
The AVIIVA SM2 and SC2 Offer Invaluable Customization Features
GRENOBLE (FRANCE), 16 (PRNewswire)
Atmel(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), a global leader in the development and fabrication of advanced semiconductor solutions, announced today a new range of products for its well known AVIIVA(R) SM2 and AVIIVA SC2 Smarter Linescan cameras. These new cameras are used in a wide range of industrial applications including inspection, sorting, and quality control. The additional members incorporate new features including flat-field correction that compensates for non-uniform lenses and light sources. Also new is a contrast expansion feature allowing customers to both optimize storage and selection.
Both the AT71-SM2LV and AT71-SC2LV are smarter than their predecessors, while white balance and color correction features are specific to the AVIIVA SC2. These smarter cameras operate within a dynamic precision range of 8,10 or 12-bits with dedicated electronics that offer excellent signal-to-noise ratio. Atmel's detector manufacturing process guarantees excellent PRNU values, a significant element of differentiation among camera competitors.
The AVIIVA SM2, (Smarter Monochrome 2 taps) features a sensor from 512 to 4K pixels, a 10 or 14 micron pixel size, and the AVIIVA SC2, [Smarter Color 2 taps] features a 4K pixel sensor with a 10 micron pixel size and an RGB color pattern (1365x RGB pattern). Both models come in a 56-mm-wide casing and can operate at speeds up to 60 million pixels per second and have the same compact mechanical design. They are available with C, F, T2 and M42 x 1 mounts. With all these combined features they are an ideal solution for industrial applications, like food sorting, wood or currency inspection, CD and DVD quality control, or flat panel displays.
"We are delighted to announce the complete range of the AVIIVA line with these smarter cameras," said Christophe Robinnet, Camera Marketing Manager of Atmel's Professional Imaging. "Designed for advanced users of industrial cameras who require higher features and flexibility. These cameras offer a system upgrade of the existing AVIIVA line."
The AVIIVA SM2 and SC2 cameras now support CameraLink(R) and LVDS interfaces and are compatible with all major frame grabbers currently available. With CommCam software, the end-user gains easy access to all the camera's features such as fine gain and offset timing, integration mode, flat-field correction calibration and configuration save and restore. The CommCam concept with its plug-and-play system has contributed to the success of the AVIIVA Linescan cameras. It enables automatic identification of the camera range, faster programming, multilingual programming of settings, easy saving process and uploading of firmware for upgrades and customization.
The SC2 and SM2 LVDS cameras are available today and pricing starts at US$1500 and US$2600 respectively in quantity.
